Scotland, we can do this!

The Scottish Government has outlined how businesses should begin to return to work over the last few weeks and in particular, the construction industry was granted a soft start as of the 11th of June. A recent survey from the Federation of Master builders found that Scottish builders suffered the greatest decrease in workload of all the home nations.

Now, as we approach the height of the summer when outside working on construction sites should be at its busiest and best, can we crank things up a notch?

Yes, we can, so come on Scotland – let’s get going!

Boris Johnson announced this week that the UK Government was going to pump £5bn into the construction industry to build homes and infrastructure as part of an ambitious plan to secure the economic recovery of Britain.

It has always been seen that if the construction industry can get moving and recover, as it did post 2008, then the rest of the economy would follow. Here at RIG, we highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity to begin, develop and complete projects that were derailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Is this the time to invest in the Highlands and Islands?

It is well known that the sustainable development of the highland and island communities in Scotland hinges on an improved infrastructure and the availability of a good housing stock. With the Government’s focus on investing in housing and infrastructure, we believe that this is the time for the Highlands and Islands to stand up and be counted. We need that investment to sustain our communities and to develop this area of Scotland in a way appropriate to all.

Ground investigation is the vital first step for all construction jobs, as this determines geotechnical and environmental ground risks. If you have a project that you would like to get going in the Highlands and Islands, then please do not hesitate to contact us for a free, confidential discussion.
